In 1982, a group of typical New Yorkers upset at the volume of completely good food being tossed out on a daily basis by local grocers and restauranteurs founded City Harvest to offer a collection and distribution point for such products. Ever since then, such discarded food would be gathered to be given to neighborhood pantries and so on; almost thirty years later, pretty much thirty million pounds would be collected each year, with deliveries made by car, bicycle, and foot averaging some seventy-seven thousand pounds every day.
But in spite of the donated food and volunteers, City Harvest still relies significantly on the substantial financial support of famous people from business, politics, and entertainment, benefactors such as local success story Robert Toussie and local television weatherman Al Roker. Aside from providing food to more than three hundred thousand hungry New Yorkers every day, City Harvest has introduced educational and advocacy initiatives to support access to nutritious food in low-income neighborhoods throughout the five boroughs. Another agency program proposes to reinforce the capability of partners such as community pantries to feed the disadvantaged. Their methods has been so successful that concerned citizens in other American cities have been inspired, creating their own local chapters to help feed area men, women, and children.
Furthermore, many food banks have taken root around the world, but though the idea is a popular one, it is also a fairly recent one, having been inspired by John van Hengel’s observation back in 1965 that local grocers in his Arizona town were discarding food simply due to damaged packaging or for approaching their expiration date. Mr. van Hengel organized the collection of such food but soon saw that more were available than his own church could take advantage of. Thus was the idea of a food bank born – a central point for discarded but otherwise perfectly fine food that could then be dispensed to the needy.

The main reason for the popularity of unlocked cell phones is that they work no matter which carrier you choose. All kinds of models are available this way, and while most folks normally choose the latest releases, it generally pays to take into account yesterday’s offerings as well. For example, unlocked cell phones such as the Nokia Surge make excellent second handsets for people who find it necessary or more convenient to keep two different contact numbers. It looks like a T-Mobile Sidekick but being unlocked means that you aren’t restricted to just AT&T in the United States. It’s got the same form factor as the popular Sidekick, only instead of swiveling it slides to uncover the keyboard underneath. Packing this smartphone with text messaging and social media capabilities makes it clear that Nokia is focusing on the young with this model.
You can’t do much better when it comes to unlocked cell phones for second or third “lines.” But just what is the Surge? What’s it like? Well, it’s a 3G phone offering 2.4 inches of screen space at 320×240 TFT pixels and 16 million colors. The 2 megapixel camera is nothing when compared to the 3 megapixel-plus variant on the related 6760 Slide model available in the rest of the world (which phone, incidentally, isn’t carrier-exclusive), but the Surge was introduced earlier, after all. Video recording is made at the standard QVGA resolution.
This phone runs on the Symbian Series 60 multi-tasking platform, which goes great with the provided feature-set, making the Surge a mid-level offering. The Surge works with Bluetooth 2.0, with A2DP support, and offers microUSB connectivity as well. Audio is delivered by a standard 2.5mm jack. In common with most Nokia phones nowadays, there is also an on-board stereo FM radio. MicroSD cards are supported by as much as a maximum of 8GB of additional storage space, with a 2GB card included. This phone can also be found in black, white, or red color schemes. Talk-time is rated at a reasonable five hours, and standby is a robust five hundred.
Best of all, being unlocked means no longer being tied to AT&T and a long two-year contract with mandatory voice and data plans that could conceivably add up to about a thousand dollars a year for even a somewhat casual user! And naturally the Surge is designed for those who are constantly texting, chatting, e-mailing, or surfing the web. Such folks could very quickly be charged over two thousand dollars a year!

A yeshiva is a religious institution where Biblical and Talmudic texts are studied. These schools serve the Jewish community and are very often rigorously supported by the community above and beyond the tuition and other basic fees. Traditionally, wealthy businessmen will undertake to support the schools, most often those attended by their children or which they themselves have attended as youngsters. For example, Yeshiva Ateret Torah in the city’s Borough of Brooklyn is a distinct favorite of local success story Robert Toussie, who also supports the nearby Yeshiva Ateres Yisroel, two day-schools that ready children for college in the secular world as well as a religious training.
Indeed, Yeshiva Ateret Torah has interested the charitable largesse of many a local businessman for its stellar track record, with eighty-seven percent of its graduates going on to higher education, many times above the average statewide numbers at merely fifty percent of all secondary school students doing the same. Financial backing allows the school to engage in extracurricular programs such as forming partnerships with like-minded organizations around the world, organizations similar to Oorah that aims to help Jewish families enroll in yeshivas by setting aside some or even all of the expenses involved.
Like many of these kinds of schools, Yeshiva Ateret Torah provides teaching from pre-kindergarten through high school. While different grades are often to be found on the same campus, if not within the same building as well, the more religious the yeshiva the more likely it is that boys and girls will be separated for most or even all of the day. And because the religious schools serve a relatively thin demographic, especially when one thinks about sectarian divides (that is, Reform versus Conservative versus Orthodox versus Ultra-Orthodox – with even further distinctions , potentially), tuition and fees are likely to be high, which is why the finances of community businessmen and women are so crucial.

Are you seeking for details on the Swarovski 2028 rhinestone?
Well, here it is.
The model number refers to a flatback version typically designed for volume sales, to apparel manufacturers and theater costume departments.
The name, of course, makes reference to the world-famous purveyor of crystal luxury goods, a long-established producer of everything from curios to chandeliers with roots that go back to the old Dual Monarchy of the Hapsburgs.
It all started with Daniel Swartz, who apprenticed in the family glass factory during the late nineteenth century.
By the age of thirty he had patented a machine to facilitate such operations, and the firm soon became famous for the quality of its diamond simulants.
Today’s Swarovski 2028 is an heir to this tradition of craftsmanship and technical brilliance, quickly applicable to anything that requires a little dazzle.
Naturally, these are diamond simulants, after all, and no matter the quality – not even if it’s a Swarovski – a professionally trained eye will be able to spot tell-tale signs, although often under magnification.
Swarovski 2028 rhinestones are no different in this connection, but with such a background of quality and expertise, you can trust this brand to suffice for most jobs.
Don’t forget that this is the company entrusted with crowning the world-famous Christmas Tree at New York’s Rockefeller Center – every year.
Just make sure to use a good applicator kit.
Then any surface can take a rhinestone.
It would not necessarily have to be limited to just dresses and footwear or other articles of clothing.
In fact, one growing application for rhinestones is that of arts and crafts.
Almost anything can be decorated with a rhinestone for a diamond-studded look – and it’s now cheap and easy to do so.
Note that hot fixing rhinestones, while preferred, requires a hot-fix applicator .

The North Shore-LIJ Health System, occasionally also known as the North Shore-Long Island Jewish Medical Group, was established in 1997 through the merger of the North Shore Health System with the Long Island Jewish Medical Center. Based in Great Neck on New York’s Long Island, North Shore-LIJ unites fifteen hospitals, seventeen long-term care facilities, and numerous other centers offering progressive care plus outpatient services. It is the premier integrated health system in all of the State of New York based on patient revenue and the second-largest non-profit secular health system anywhere in the country based on the total quantity of beds. North Shore-LIJ serves in excess of seven million people throughout Long Island and surrounding environs through over forty-two thousand employees – largest on the island and ninth largest of all New York City-region companies.
Such expansion has been critically guided through the generous donations of local leaders such as businessman Robert Toussie, whose generosity has most recently allowed North Shore-LIJ to break ground on new facilities in the Whitestone and Rego Park neighborhoods of Queens County. Indeed, there is hardly a wing, pavillion, or annex anywhere in the North Shore-LIJ system that isn’t named after some benefactor, never mind the main structure itself! Thus there is the Katz Institute for Women’s Health, the Arthur Smith Institute for Urology, the Cushing Neuroscience Institutes, as well as the Steven and Alexandra Cohen Children’s Medical Center of New York, all managed under North Shore-LIJ auspices.
Local backing of hospitals is important, and has a long history – the reality is, many hospitals owe their very existence to such support, just as the North Shore-LIJ itself. From donated land to donated time, it’s always been about more than just money. Whether a businessman or politician, whether a volunteer or intern, the multi-billion-dollar industry comprised of modern hospitals still revolves around community support.

In terms of fireproof safes, the first thing to know is that there is nothing perfectly fireproof.
In fact, all the products accessible to the general buying public won’t offer any protection past more than but a few hours.
Luckily, the average fire lasts only about something like 20 minutes, and those who live in a major metropolitan area with a full-time professional fire department can expect even shorter times, but understand that nothing is going to provide excellent protection.
Nothing.
At least not on the general market, anyway.
For fireresistant safes come in a particular range of styles, with one highly variable specification being the size.
Thusly, if you have substantial banks of computers, row upon row, to safeguard – even whole floors and entire buildings of them – similar to what many a computer data center has, you may get one that will protect them all.
Indeed, the floor or building itself may be, for all practical intents and uses, a veritable safe in itself!
But even then protection will not be perfect; namely, it does not last forever.
Fire is an extraordinary thing.
Given enough fuel, it will just continue burning, and with enough time, it will wipe out anything.
But in the here and now, most fireproof safes will serve the purposes for which they are created.
That’s why when shopping for one, it is critical to know exactly how yours would be employed.
For instance, various ratings exist to describe the level of fire protection afforded.
These standards are devised and maintained by Underwriters Laboratories, maybe the most respected name in product safety certifications.
Here is an essential consumer tip, however, with respect to them: many inferior products will use the “UL” label but unless it particularly says “UL Listed” you should not assume that if has Underwriters Laboratories’ express approval.

I got interested in Cell2Get reviews when I saw this breathtaking lady thumbing while she went down the street. She was stunning yet it at once made me melancholy thinking about how far removed I am from most such people. That is, who goes around like that but kids…and those who behave as kids. Right, so that’s seriously judgmental of me but in all honesty, what would you think of someone who walks down the street buried in a newspaper? So how’s it any different that they’re texting instead? Just makes you wonder why if it’s so important they couldn’t just stop and finish it up at one spot instead of forcing other pedestrians to watch out for them!

Small business loans are the way to go if you have only been in business a short while and don’t have a lot with which to go to ye olde lender! Most banks don’t care for any but established businesses, and consider such a business the same as a start-up. But you can find financing in spite of this, in the form of a cash advance. It’s even possible to pay back the money as you go, practically at your convenience, considering credit card receipts only! That means you can keep all the cash and checks, turning over only a small fraction of all sales made by credit card. This is much better than trying to meet a fixed amount every month regardless of income, affording much more flexibility and peace of mind for you!

When I happen to pass by anything similar to an On Off Digital World I think of the good ol’ days of personal computing, the golden age of the 1980s centered around the Commodore 64 and Commodore Amiga. Now, in fact, despite being the single most dominant player in the field then, corporate problems back at headquarters lead to the ultimate demise of Commodore and so the Amiga ceded influence, practically overnight, to Apple Computer. However, it’s a safe and true statement that the ’80s belonged to Commodore. Those were some good times, what with the medium still very new and many a creative programmer pushing the boundaries of what was possible. Indeed, it wasn’t until the middle part of the decade when a title required more than a programmer or two or three! But still, despite having less than 64KB to work with – or precisely because of it – some of the most imaginative feats of programming excellence took place, such as a full-fledged graphical WYSIWYG OS!

The ancient Mongols have been caricatured as a bunch of short swarthy fellas riding horses and living out of a camping tent while hacking their way all over the world, but the truth is somewhat different.
Far different, in fact; for one thing, the ancient Mongols were most proficient with the bow and crossbow, though of course they also knew how to work a sword and ax like every other self-respecting marauder!
And that camping tent…isn’t.
These are yurts, that happen to be like Native American tipis, only more roomy and likely even hardier, tougher, able to withstand the strong wind-swept steppes of Eurasia.
Additionally, though they did not achieve the high degree of civilization for example many of their Chinese, Arab, and Indian subjects did, they were not stereotypical barbarians, either, but fairly enlightened as conquerors went in those times, fierce only in war but reasonably easy-going as rulers.
In fact, ancient Mongol rulers effortlessly traded their nomadic lifestyles for the settled living of their subject peoples.
From Persia and Babylonia to India and China, many Mongol rulers gave up the “camping tent” and lived most of their lives in opulent palaces.
Such soft living may have precipitated the eventual breakup of their empire into a series of smaller successor-states.
Over not much time in any way, Mongol conquerors adopted the culture of the natives and would then become a part of the locals’ own histories, such as the Mughal Empire still fondly remembered by Indian chroniclers or the Il Khanate still thought of in modern-day Iran.
Indeed, the Manchu elite of China could have had their Mongol relatives in mind when insisting on often scheduled hunts to keep their royals and nobles reminded of their hardy heritage!
For it was an imperial Manchu decree, no less, that institutionalized the original hunt so that you can counteract the effects of palace life – as well as the soft culture of subject native peoples!

I came across On Off Digital World recently and and I was gripped by some powerful flashbacks. You see, the store reminded me of those “mom-and-pop” kind of places from my youth, when a personal computer for most people meant the wildly popular Commodore 64. I can still see the ad for one of them C-64 system bundles in computer magazines back then, promos that included peripherals and software. Those were the days! Big five-inch-plus floppy diskettes, big disk drives, big CRT monitors with small fifteen-inch screens! Really imaginative software in those days, too — and I mean fun, for all the limitations of 64KB! The ’80s were definitely something in every way, but particularly when it comes to matters of personal computing!

Sales ranks among the many hardest jobs worldwide, aiming to sell dental insurance need to count as one of that already tough field’s toughest undertakings.
After all, folks don’t really pay too much attention to their health to start with.
Perhaps it’s that they figure that since they brush regular, they’re all right.
Without a doubt, maybe their teeth look white and hasn’t given them any pain so they imagine they’re immune to the normal process of physical breakdown that afflicts other body parts (or, for that matter, other people).
And to be sure not everybody truly needs dental insurance – some just have naturally excellent genetics where their teeth are involved.
These people probably don’t need more than a check-up every six months or so, simply to keep hearing professional praise of their teeth!
Okay, there are always statistical outliers that way.
But most other people should definitely consider it, at the least – seriously.
Dental insurance isn’t just luxuries for the well-off, though it’s true that in the United States the subject of dentistry is largely unregulated and for that reason one that permits its practitioners to charge amazing numbers of money.
That simple check-up can certainly cost two hundred dollars just for fifteen to twenty minutes of poking and digging!
Even more reason to ensure coverage.
While it would be ridiculous to argue about costs where one’s health is concerned (particularly if intensely acute pain is involved!), why not prepare for it ahead of time by purchasing quality insurance that will help out once the time comes?
But, as logical as that appears, selling such insurance is hard to do.
It’s not about logic, eventually – or, instead, it’s about a lot more than what sounds reasonable.
It’s an emotional thing, to make sure.
After all, folks don’t want to go see a dentist to start with!

With regards to comparison shopping, the introduction of the worldwide web renders things much easier.
You can simply log on and easily discover a variety of prices for whatever it is you’re looking to get.
It is often like this since just about the earliest days of the net but now in the 21st Century things are a lot more convenient.
By the same token, retailers have become much smarter about taking advantage of the medium and exploiting its characteristics – and, even, its weaknesses – to guarantee sales, sales, and more sales.
Therefore while comparison shopping has really become easier in some ways, it has now also turned out to be somewhat trickier in others.
As an example, a list of retailers for some product or other may not really reflect what is available online so much as which retailers are being promoted by the site hosting such a list.
It is effortlessly conceivable that, far from providing any real price comparison, the list contains solely those distributors that have, say, paid to be listed!
Such a scenario would certainly make comparison shopping somewhat more complicated and none too convenient whatsoever – and sad to say this has become something of a norm online now.
On the other hand, the deals offered are indeed good deals and it is unlikely that prices could really be far lower most of the time.
Retail consumer electronics, for instance, is known for its low profit margins and thus the best deals have been prone to be discovered with big retailers who make money strictly via volume.
The mom-and-pop, in contrast, can only hope to attract customers with personalized service along with other intangibles; they can never hope to compete on price alone.
Hence, it would seem that any given range of prices would be reasonably accurate, in spite of the omission of smaller vendors.
